‘66 Olds TH350 to a ‘65 Buick 401

I have. 1966 Olds 3 speed automatic transmission and I’m hoping to bolt it to a 1965 Buick 401. Do these guys play well with each other? The 401 is still in the car with the original 2 speed still bolted to it. I can’t see the transmission/engine bolt pattern well enough to tell if the Olds tranny will bolt on. I’m guessing there are plates and other patch jobs you can do to get these two to work, but I’d rather they just go nut to butt.

Thanks,
Jim

That’s not going to work. The Nailhead had its own special bell housing that was different then GM’s Buick, Olds, Pontiac bell housing. There were Nailhead bell housing TH400s that used a switch pitch converter in 65 and 66 if you want a three speed auto. You will need to shorten the driveshaft and make sure to get the yoke with the trans. You would have to figure out how to activate the switch pitch as well.
