'66 401 into '65 LeSabre Convertible with 300

I plan to swap the 401 and trans out of a '66 Electra donor into a '65 LeSabre with a 300. Has anyone done this before? My biggest concerns are the motor and tranny mounts. Just looking to see if anyone has done this before or knows of any printed material on the subject. Thanks!

I'd try the frame pads fromn the 66 electra and see if they work. The 401 was in the 64 Lesabre wagons and they had the same frame in the front as yours. those frame pads would work for sure. You should be able to slide your transmission crossmember back and use a TH 400 mount.

The 65 Wildcat and 65 LeSabre had different wheelbases, all differences were forward of the firewall! you may have some trouble with the length of the nailhead vs a 300. The 64 Lesabre wagons were completely different animals...built on 64 Wildcat chassis which were x frame.
Since the nailhead did fit into the Skylark 300 frame, my guess is that to meet the same engine mounting points with the nail you would have to use the same kind of mounts as the Skylark GS...i'm thinking those mounts effectively moved the mount position back from where they are on a WIldcat 3", which is the same amount the frame is different from the LeSabre! :clonk:
EASIER TO get a Wildcat and put Lesabre trim on it :jeez:
